At the tender age of one, Yogeshwari was diagnosed with polio in both her legs. Despite this disease, she has shown great determination and grit in overcoming all the social and economic challenges that arose throughout her life. Coming from an economically deprived family, she has persevered courageously while also conducting her life with utmost dignity. Her life story is inspirational and can provide valuable lessons to others in a similar position.
A will to study
Yogeshwari’s determination to get educated was apparent throughout her academic endeavours. She successfully completed her school education despite immense difficulties while travelling between her home and school. This success is all the more remarkable considering that she had to undergo various therapies along with her studies to improve her physical condition till she attained the age of eighteen.
As she pursued her Junior college education, more challenges came her way as her parents suffered with illnesses. Yet, she persisted and her enormous desire to study motivated her to get admission and to successfully complete her plus two education.
Her next dream was to become a graduate. Considering her difficulties in travelling, she applied for B.COM admissions to colleges that were situated near to her home. When she was unable to secure admission to any of those colleges, she eventually decided to complete her graduation through a correspondence course from Mumbai University. Battling personal difficulties, financial stress and illness in the family, she persevered to complete her graduation successfully.
A will to sustain herself
Post graduation, MBA Foundation offered her a Trainee position in their Accounts department. In spite of her good performance, her stint with MBA Foundation was cut short due to her father’s illness. She had to keep more time aside to attend to her parents. At the same time, she had to also shift her residence to another location and the travel involved from her new residence was too much for her to continue working with MBA foundation. After her re-location, she took up an assignment as a clerk in a school near to her home and worked there for five years. During this assignment she frequently felt that she was being viewed sympathetically due to her physical disability. While she appreciated such concern, she did not want to be judged based on this perspective alone.
She yet held the desire to pursue an accounting career. With this desire, she again approached MBA Foundation for a job opportunity. She was readily accepted in a full time position in their Accounts department where she continues to put in a good performance every day. She is also being provided lunch and physio therapies at no cost to her by the MBA Foundation.
If you ask her what your dreams are, she will tell you with all the conviction that:
- She wants to embrace life as it comes
- She would love to be treated at par with normal people and be offered no special privileges
MBA Foundation is able to fulfil her desires of financial independence, dignity and career aspirations.
This is also a real life story to provide credence to MBA Foundation’s Vision and Mission
